ME/CFS

ME started suddenly for me (19 years ago) after a viral infection. It meant having to give up my career as a psychotherapist and my plans to train as a dance therapist.

My condition has fluctuated between moderate/severe and at the moment I am either bed-bound or wheelchair-bound most of the time. This has been quite a journey, with many highs and lows, presenting me with the challenge of finding a way to cope with a chronic illness.

The thing that has kept me going, apart from the support of family/friends, is a belief in the creative spirit. I believe strongly in the power of images and words as a form of communication and in their potential to transform the world we live in, and also to create alternative worlds when we need a safe place of retreat.

ME can be a misunderstood condition and anyone experiencing this illness needs information and support. The links on this page provide a start to accessing the ME community, information on current medical research and fund raising.
