Paintings on Snow and Other Things
A heavy snowfall precipitated this series of images as I wanted to see what effects could be achieved by painting on snow with water colours. Later in the season I began experimenting with petals from various plants in the garden. Adobe photoshop provides many possibilities for working with a captured image. The Iris tree (final image on page) began as a photograph of the bloom of a purple iris flower. Likewise the image of stems in a vase has been photoshopped. Sometimes a tiny segment of a photograph will suggest pictorial possibilities.
