COLLECTIVE RESPONSE TO MY QUESTIONNAIRE

For the Muses project thirteen members of Rugby Artist's Group exchanged in-depth questionnaires expressing  and sharing the 'quirks, nuances and peccadilloes' of one another's lives.  Each artist produced a piece of art in response to the  thirteen questionnaires over a period of a year - resulting in 156 new works in total.
We agreed not to spend longer than half a day making each piece but realistically we probably spent longer.

The 150 works were exhibited at the Lewis Gallery, Rugby School. 
The work was arranged so that the individual responses to each artist were grouped together under the artist's name.

I found there were many opportunities for narrative within this project. The mention of a favourite novel, piece of music or words of a poem presented a storyline - which I decided to incorporate within wooden boxes  symbolizing a mini-theatre set. The little figures are the yellow, stretchy, smiley figures that one buys for children's party bags. I took great pleasure in dressing each figure and sewing on hair to create individual characters.
